CT Lesson 32 - How to say I am afraid in Tagalog

I believe that how we bring up a child will affect their whole life in the long run. Have you been spanked before? I was an active and playful and mostly mischievous as a child. I remember after we got home from school on normal weekdays, we would play with our cousins. But our auntie insists that we must sleep at noon for siesta time. She would hit us with hanger or slippers or stick if we go out and play. But that's my desire, to play toys and enjoy noon since I was complete awake. So I would sneak out, opening the door as quiet as I can, then run at my cousin's house. But most of the time I was caught and suffer spanking. As a child what I only understand is ''toys'', I didn't saw that siesta time would help me. But my aunt never sat down to explain it to us. As a result I grew lacking of self-confidence on High School. Until now I fear to speak my mind because of spanking, which when I reasoned back was thought disrespectful and rebellion.

But when I experienced True Love, there I overcame fear because there's no fear in Love. And this kind of love motivated me to excel because a wrong is confronted justly. There is no more painful punishment behind  a mistake but brokenness and grace. That's the Love of God. We are not treated as slaves but disciplined as a son.

So to say I am afraid it is,

    I    am    afraid
(Ako) + (natatakot)

Ako natatakot is not a complete sentence in Tagalog. So to fix the sentence we add "ay" after ako. Now we have; Ako ay natatakot or Natatakot ako.

Of course guardians' role is to guard but we must consider the child's emotion as well. Here's how love is spoken in Tagalog at Lesson 4.
